Sophie judging the Melissa Nathan Award for Comedy RomanceThis week saw me judging the Melissa Nathan Award for Comedy Romance in London. This is a wonderful prize with which I'm proud to be associated. Melissa Nathan was a brilliantly talented writer of comedy romances, such as The Nanny, till she died tragically young at 37 of cancer.

Her husband, Andrew, set up this award in her memory and I've been a judge since it began. It celebrates funny, romantic books, so obviously is a prize dear to my heart.

The winner this year was Moonlight in Odessa by Janet Skeslien Charles, which is a fantastically quirky, wry and funny story with some great characters. I highly recommend it.

Here I am on stage, talking about Love Letters by Katie Fforde, which was also shortlisted. The other judges are (L to R) Liza Tarbuck, Jo Brand, Joanna Trollope and Morwenna Banks, who are all fabulous women and make the whole experience an absolute pleasure.

If you'd like to know any more about the prize or the foundation in Melissa's memory, please go to melissanathan.com.

See you again soon!

A beautiful prize indeed and very well deserved.
I'm a huge fan of Melissa Nathan books. In special Pride and Prejudice and Jasmine Field and The Nanny. She was an excellent writer and I'm sure a more than beautiful person. God bless her.
